Businesses and not-for-profit organizations operating in the tourism sector can now apply for financial support to help them develop tourism products and experiences.
On November 20, 2023 the Tourism Growth Program (TGP) was launched by the Government of Canada. The 3-year, $108 million program will be available nationwide and administered locally by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev). Fifteen percent (15%) of the program will go towards supporting Indigenous tourism-led initiatives.
Incorporated small and medium-sized businesses operating in the tourism industry, indigenous or not-for-profit tourism associations, Indigenous-owned businesses, economic development organizations and governments may apply.
Restaurants, hotels, retail, private leisure facilities/event venues are not eligible to apply.
FedDev will fund up to $250,000 per project. Applicants must contribute 50% towards the project. For businesses, funding is normally in the form of repayable, interest-free contributions. For not-for-profit organizations, funding is normally in the form of non-repayable contributions.
Please visit the Tourism Growth Program page for more information on eligibility requirements, eligible projects, and how to apply.
The deadline to submit applications is February 29, 2024.
