Kelly Provost

Director of Economic Development

Kelly Provost became the Director of Economic Development at the City of Sarnia in January 2021. Kelly brings 15+ years of experience working at the municipal, regional and provincial levels, combined with an extensive background in communications and stakeholder engagement. As Director, she leads the City department responsible for business expansion, community development, investment attraction, and strategic initiatives. She’s experienced in entrepreneurship and new venture development from her time consulting as part of the Ontario Network of Entrepreneurs (ONE) and teaching at Niagara College.

Kelly graduated from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree and the Public Relations Post Graduate Program through Niagara College. Kelly obtained an Economic Development Certification jointly through the University of Waterloo and Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

Monica Shepley

Economic Development Officer

Monica Shepley joined the City of Sarnia as an Economic Development Officer in 2019. She has 10+ years of experience supporting businesses and community development. In her role, Monica assists with site selection, community development, and special projects. Prior to working in Economic Development, she was the manager of advocacy and policy development with the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce. During that time she worked closely with the business community to influence government policies and promote Sarnia-Lambton as a great place to invest.

Monica returned to her hometown of Sarnia-Lambton in 2010 after graduating from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and working abroad for several years.

Mykyta Ivancuk

Economic Development Coordinator

Mykyta Ivanchuk joined the City of Sarnia as an Economic Development Coordinator, bringing a unique background in customer service and community engagement. Originally from Europe, Mykyta moved to Sarnia in 2022 and has since been dedicated to supporting local growth and innovation. A student at Lambton College and founder of the Lambton Model United Nations, Mykyta has worked to promote youth engagement in diplomacy and global issues.

In his role, Mykyta is committed to Downtown Sarnia and Mitton Village neighbourhood revitalization by driving the development through strategic community partnerships and fostering local business retention and expansion.
