A new strategic plan is in the works for the Sarnia Harbour. The plan, to be developed over 12 to 24 months starting in 2024, will likely include a business plan, capital and maintenance plans, and recommendations regarding a governance structure for managing the asset.
Sarnia Harbour is owned by the City and operated by a third party. It was acquired by the City in 2014 when the federal government decided to divest. The harbour currently generates revenue from berthed ships, electricity use, harbour usage fees, contractor fees, and warehouse rentals. Current projects include work to build the Cestar Dock for the city’s oversized load corridor.
A call for proposals to assist with developing the strategy will launch as early as this fall with a contract awarded in early 2024. Interested parties should visit Bids and Tenders for more information.
