Lambton College received an award for Innovation on behalf of the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce at this year’s Outstanding Business Achievement Awards. The award recognizes the College’s innovative approach to collaboration and community development through its Sarnia-Lambton Civic Lab Partnership program, an initiative that launched in 2021.
Modelled after Toronto’s CivicLabTO, Civic Lab is a collaborative project working with the City of Sarnia and Lambton County to undertake research to meet the community’s economic, environmental, and social needs.
In 2021 the City of Sarnia joined the Sarnia-Lambton Civic Lab Partnership through a formal Memorandum of Understanding. Since then, the College has carried out research for the City on a number of local projects including an analysis of the local supply chain, a cricket field assessment and follow-up to the Energy and Environment Summit.
Through Civic Lab, the College provides expertise from 6 technology research centres, various research groups, and faculty across departments towards city initiatives.
